PostgreSQL WAL archive with an online backup

Just starting working with PostgreSQL again, version 9.0. Back in 8.0 I asked why you can’t force a WAL archive out after a backup – so if you lose your DB you can actually recover the backup and apply the log to get it consistent. Many people acted baffled by why you would want to do this. Well, in 9.0 (and maybe later 8.x) releases when you call pg_stop_backup it seems to archive the WAL file.  I’ll just say that I’m happy it does it.
